I'm not one for kitschy roadside attractions, but this one came highly recommended. This is Paul Bunyan, and he stands 49 feet tall at a place called Trees of Mystery in Klamath. We decided to go because they have a privately owned, world-class Native American museum that the Smithsonian is trying to acquire, but can't. They have all kinds of trails, including a gondola sky trail that goes through the redwood treetops. On our way out, we sampled some of their homemade fudge. The next day, we traveled out of our way to buy a pound of the stuff. Some of the maple-nut flavor is sitting in a tupperware on my desk at work. I take a sliver from it everyday after lunch. It's supposed to be good for six weeks at room temperature!—SF

  1. Fudge sounds good. And one day I will have to snap a pick of a similar looking figure at a local gas station. Only our guy looks to be plastic and it missing an arm.
