This is the intersection of Cherry St. & Washington St., three blocks from my apartment in Presidio Heights. I drive, walk, or bicycle through this very junction two or three times a week. Up until a few months ago, I was unaware of its sinister history. In October 1969, the Zodiac Killer shot one of his victims—a cab driver—right here in this very square. Apparently, before he fled the scene, he made eye contact with witnesses who were in the corner houses peeping through the windows. He, of course, was never identified, and remains a villainous legend today. Something tells me it's what he wanted all along. Just a bit of trivia for ya. Use it wisely.—SF
