A long walk
We did an hour walk at Rockefeller Estate on Saturday, then were heading out to New Paltz for a day trip but my car sounded horrible. We stayed local and went back to Rockefeller Estate and did a 2 plus hour walk on Sunday. We made one of the longer loops which was nice to do for a change. Ran into a former co-worker from the newspaper and he said they had another round of lay-offs in August. I can't imagine still being under the "layoff" stress for all of these years. It must be 6 or 7 years that they have been laying off people. And I made an appointment to get the car fixed, but I am giving up on the car. After 160,000 miles, it is time to put the car out to pasture. Time for me to start doing some research on a new car prices. And the Missus is on board. This time I have been the one not ready to make the move. Lately I am feeling like is nice to have a car and not stress about someone dinging the doors. —NY

I remember like 5 years ago someone asking me about Mark and since I knew it was going nowhere, I just grunted. She had just left a long-term relationship and she said, "Don't worry, it will come to a head eventually." We still had five years to go before it did that, but there were many times in those years that I wondered if she was right. I think it applies to many things in life--most things, actually, including cars.
