A Kiss For Luck

I had a very late lunch. They sent an email out at 5 minutes till noon saying we needed to present updated graphics for a 1pm meeting after loading us down with updates. So they basically made it impossible to get something to eat anytime near the lunch hour. I finally got out about 3. The Chinese place I went to at had already broken down the lunch counter. Chipotle had a 25 person deep line. On my way to White Castle (so much for my healthy choices) I stumbled across this guy working on a boat. I had no clue what he was doing there in the Garment District. I even tapped on the window and flashed my camera to get permission to snap his picture. This evening, I Googled "A Kiss for Luck" (words in the window) and I found out he is a performance artist from Brooklyn, James Leonard. Actually it seems from what I read that he wasn't working on the boat but actually whittling the thing down chip by chip to a pile of chips, or shavings to use his words. I think you will be seeing more posts of this guy from me through August 11. —NY

  1. Do you remember that Sex & the City with the performance artist who just sat there and Carrie was disbelieving of her artistic intentions?
