Up all night

I was up all night trying to make a deadline for the Japan Day at Central Park poster contest. I blew off the contest because I was too busy, then they extended the deadline and offered 2 free tickets to Japan for the winner. I didn't have any work schedule for today so I started about 3pm yesterday, with about 4 hours of breaks mixed in, and worked till 6am this morning when I emailed my entry just under the deadline. Technically the deadline was Sunday but I figured that mean they wanted them when they started their day Monday morning. I actually like this photo better than my entry which wasn't resolved to my satisfaction. Origami cranes were my dominate element (perhaps too cliche), so I scoured our shelves for reference and found this little guy just like this in a sake cup.—NY

  1. Awesome photo! Speaking of Japan, we were walking through Japantown the other night and the air was so crisp and there was the smell of yakiniku in the air and I was immediately transported back to winter in Kyoto. I can't believe it's been a decade since we ended that experience. We could have done JET three times over. Is it bad that I'm still thinking about those years?
