Do you have parklets in NY? They started here about four or five years ago. A parklet is a piece of the curbside that's normally for street parking that the adjacent cafe has turned into a place for their customers to sit and enjoy good weather and, of course, food from the eatery. It's a like a street patio. Also a way to discourage driving in general. They're quite trendy here and can get elaborate. There's one in front of a trendy coffee place in the Mission District that has all this parking for fixed-gear bikes. It's like a place to show off your fixy and grab a cup of joe. The one in the pic was an old Citroen truck that they hacked up and put out front of a French cyclist bar.—SF

  1. You would have probably noticed if you were a guy. Alleys make the best impromptu restrooms. But there are none to be had in NYC. Ha ha . . . my fall back is to buy an order of oatmeal cookies at McDonalds and use their restroom.
