This is from a wall along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail. I took this on my Friday walk to the library. There is a sign out in front of the house (actually a small mansion) that say this was the home of the first female self-made millionaire in America. She sold beauty and hair care products for black women. And just a mile on this same trail in the other direction I read they were recently filming another movie (period film) at Lyndhurst, Winter's Tale. I read about it in the paper. Supposedly Russell Crowe and Will Smith are in town and they are making fake snow.—NY
What other movies have they made up your way?
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't remember half of them. But they do a lot of period pieces up this way. Stuff from the 40s and 50s. I remember once walking down Main Street in Tarrytown and they had literally taped red autumn leaves to the trees for a Julia Roberts film. I can remember what the name of it was. It was about young college girls. Also in Tarrytown I remember noticing the street signs had been changed and they were filming in and around the Tarrytown Theater. I think Matt Damon was playing a lawyer. Oh, and I heard they did part of the Whitney Houston movie where Denzel Washington played an angel. But I don't remember if I was living here when they did that movie. Frequently I see innocuous little signs around town telling crews where to go but I don't often know what they are filming. Sometimes just local commercials.
