This morning I made waffles for the first time from scratch. They turned out quite good despite a rough start. First our non-stick waffle maker was made sticky after using spray oil and number of times. The residue becomes quite tacky after being heated a few time. The first waffle took me 10 minutes to scrap out of the machine. Then I used a silicone brush and slathered on lots of oil and they popped right out when done. I also had issues with mistaking rum extract with vanilla extract. Oops! I added both in the end. My emergency can of evaporated milk came to the rescue when I realize we had no fresh milk. I was actually very please with the late breakfast. Since we didn't go to bed till 7am we had breakfast at 1pm. I was quite surprised to see the Missus had somehow found fresh blueberries in the middle of winter. What a nice surprise!—NY
That looks like an awesome waffle. We had pancakes, as you know. I'm about to have the leftovers now. But question: what they heck were you guys doing until 7 AM? Or should I not ask....
ReplyDeleteLOL! I was working and she was reading. Just one advantage I am sure you can appreciate is when working from home you can do the work when the mood strikes.
ReplyDeleteI really like that pic for some reason. I was eating and had a couple of bits left when it struck me to take a picture. The missus doesn't know about this blog and probably thought I was being really strange at that point.
I actually wanted to make waffles again this morning but unfortunately, no milk. Drats. —NY
Oh, the composition and depth of field are gorgeous in this shot. You could be a food photographer! They make a boon out this way...
