We tried out a tabehodai Korean bbq place this evening. These were the kids at the table next to ours. They threw a surprise birthday for someone. Their little party was the cutest thing ever. They were good kids, I could tell.
We were supposed to go out to dinner with M's friends from LA. They drove up last night and are staying in Oakland. They called to cancel at the last minute because they got lice from the people they're staying with! Ewwww! Anyway, they want to reschedule for brunch tomorrow, but I forbade M to go. How can they go to a public place in good conscience knowing that they've been infected with lice?? I just don't get it. Disgusting and irresponsible, if you ask me.—SF
Happy for you that you could still have a nice evening out. Eyuuuuuuuu . . . Lice!!??! Well, if everyone shows up bald and wearing new t-shirts from Old Navy, I think they are probably safe.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, do a little research and see what is responsible behavior. And since they are away from home, they have no choice but to go out in public.
Well, they did get treated (whatever that entails). Did I mention that they're having a children's party at the house that's been infested (where M's friends are staying)? That's tomorrow. If I were a mom with a kid going to that party, I'd keep my kid home, despite the assurances that everyone in the family has been treated. Don't forget, lice lives in textiles--bed sheets, towels, dish cloths, napkins. They don't have a long life cycle, but every louse lays 150 eggs. I'm not saying you can't eventually be free of lice, but I am saying that if I was scheduled to host a kids' party two days after I discovered the infestation, I would postpone for at least another two weeks. THAT would be responsible behavior, I'm fairly certain.
