I'm currently coveting a Nespresso machine. Even though my heart belongs to tea, brewing a cappuccino without having to walk down to the Starbucks is a luxury I could live with. On the other hand, right now I'm sick. So, tea really is the best remedy. I think last week's stress with the ungrateful house guest and the full-time temp work at the magazine ran me down. Funny, the day before I started the job, I was flat-out sick--chills, sore throat, headache, the works. A sign that I'm supposed to stay a free agent? Or perhaps just a reaction to the a**hole of a house guest that I've just had to endure? I've been watching TV all day. I guess that's what you do when you're literally sick and tired.—SF

  1. Stay a free agent if you like but it is natural to go back to an in office job and get sick. Working from home you are not exposed to random germs on a daily basis and so your immune system is not game ready.

  2. Make sure you get a taste of the product first. They had one of those instant coffee machines like that with the pods at a contract job I had last summer, and I would always take the trip up a flight of stairs for the fresh brewed old fashioned stuff because it tasted better. I also wasn't a big fan of the wastefulness of the pod system. But on the positive side, they were nice late in the day when the fresh brewed stuff was burnt and stale.

  3. I wouldn't get one because drinking coffee everyday is not something I want to make a habit out of. I'm sticking to my rule: one decaf latte or cappuccino a week. That way it stays a treat--almost like a dessert--rather than becoming a vice.
