Walking away from full-time freelancing. It's funny because I got some advice from my photographer today that would have been great if I were still a freelancer. I guess Mick Jagger said that the best thing you can do for your career is to turn things down. Quite the opposite of what I believed, which was that I couldn't afford to turn anything down. Which may account for the constant struggle. Not to say that I'm on easy street right now (far from it), but my friend S did mention the other day that a full-time job is almost always half the work for double the pay. What are your thoughts?—SF

I think turning down the right this is always a good thing. Remember how I was pressured to take the any job I could by the Missus and I knew it was a bad decision and was fired after a month. Now I have fired on my "record." To a certain degree I agree about the full-time job paying more. When I freelance my clients never paid for me to go take a crap or make a pot of coffee. When I am on the clock on-site they pay for crap and coffee breaks. But my job bills clients hourly so I am much more accountable my time that when I was at the newspaper. Crapping tends to be logged under administrative duties, but I can only log so many hours under administration before they start asking questions.
