I have a dozen interviews to do between now and the end of the year. I had make a chart to keep track of the onslaught. In this case, the number of interviews does not equate to big bucks; in fact the work:money ratio on this particular page is quite low. Don't think I'm not being smart about it. At least half or more of these people are doing interviews by email, which means I don't have to spend hours transcribing. That takes the sting out of the short dollars. What I say here is not necessarily a complaint. I'm busy. So that's good. I want to remember this when it starts to get quiet 'round these parts and when I'm feeling down about my career.—SF
It's good to be busy ain't it!. I just got hit with a ton of work for the holidays. And for the first time in my life I am happy . . . truly happy to have to work for the holidays. Gosh, perspective is some amazing stuff. —NY
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Yes, I agree. Just yesterday I also got hit with a ton of holiday work. And get this, the work is from two new clients who pay above the going rate ($1.25/word instead of $1/word). Amazing. Oh, and I sent a cold email to a design magazine in Chicago and got a response! They want to talk to me in the first week of January. Happy to be ending this year on a good note, and going into next year on a good note. So grateful to the Universe. And yay for us!
